Happy birthday
cityphonelines!!!!
Calling all iphone users.
Tell me, what apps can you not live without? Does the iphone need a battery management app like the droid does? Anything you can think of that you *use*.
Hit me.
Also: how do you change the slide to open to a password?
Thank you!!!!

Date: 2011-12-02 02:07 pm (UTC)Weather: i like weatherbug the best
sports: sportacular. I keep trying other things and coming back to this one. It has the easiest interface and least crap
games: word warp, spider free, bubble shooter free, angry birds
Finding things: aroundme, imdb, find friends
Food: Epicruious, Check Please (I cannot figure out tip), All Recipes
Music: Soundhound, pandora, public radio
Media: ibooks, netflix
Utilities: LED Light, Battery Magic, PageOnce (finances)
Location/Driving: MapQuest (free turn by turn directions), AAA
App stuff: WallpapersHD, AppShopper, AppMiner
Those are the basics of what i use frequently. I have more, I've had a *lot* more, but these are the mainstays. Almost all are free or have a free version.

Date: 2011-12-02 02:10 pm (UTC)*exactly* what I was looking for. You are genius! I've already got a few of those. Battery magic is something I need.
Do you know about the password/slidey thing? I *bought* what I thought was the right app yesterday and it turned out to be a toy. ::head desk::
Also, uninstaller?

Date: 2011-12-02 02:14 pm (UTC)Uninstalling is easy. Press and hold the icon for about three seconds. All your icons will start to shake. When they're in this state you can move them around, arranging all your screens, and those that can be deleted will have a black X in their upper left corner. Press it, and the app is gone.
You can also delete apps through the settings menu
Settings->General->Usage
This will show you a list of what you have by size. I find that really useful. Selecting any of the apps in this menu brings up a screen with a large "delete App" button. They work the same, it's whatever you prefer.
Let me get back to you on the password screen.

Date: 2011-12-02 02:16 pm (UTC)For the password thing:
Settings->General->Passcode Lock
Turn it on and it'll ask you for the key-code you'd like. That's the internal one. I'll look around and see what the best apps are for a passlock. I know there are a bazillion.

Date: 2011-12-02 02:33 pm (UTC)Feel free to ask more questions, etc. There are a lot of iphone users out there and this is just my interp of what should be around. Sadly, looking for things like "best iphone apps" or "best iphone utilities/games/music/etc" will give you a lot of options. I used to not want to pay for any of my apps. I've relented on that some, but I still like freebies first. I'm picky as hell and I don't want to pay for something I won't use.
AppMiner and AppShopper will let you know when things are on sale, etc. That's a good way to keep an eye out for things you like but won't buy at full price.
