I was already at 150 before the canon even fired I was so ready to run!

According to my heart rate monitor, actual race results have not been posted yet. That's 12:36 minutes/mile. Off my pace BUT WHO CARES? I walked up a very short, steep hill about ... 15 yards. I walked two other moderate hills about 15 yards a piece. Other than that, I ran every step. I even checked on a couple of people who looked like they were injured [not hurt, just hurting] and thanked all the policemen for directing traffic and waved at all the cheerers.

It was supposed to start at 8:15. It was about 38 degrees, so I didn't run with my leg warmers, hat, or gloves. It didn't start until 8:45. I had already checked all my gear so I just about froze until we started. I had my mom drive me down and drop me off, she went off and Christmas shopped, then picked me up when it was finished. I wore my medal to CostCo! I think she was embarrassed. But I am not. I doubt I take the medal off all freaking day. Told mom I was gonna wear it every day for six months. Heh.

So we finally started. The first mile was awful. The second mile was a little better. We hit 3 miles and I was about 2 minutes off my pace [I never got that time back btw] by mile 3 it was no longer awful. I was warm, sweating a bit, in my groove and chilling with my playlist cleverly entitled RUN BITCH RUN. Mile 4 was amazing. Mile 5 was just as awesome. By mile six, I was like I'mma do me a marathon next. And then I hit mile 7 and the non-existent arch in my foot got a cramp. It was still there in mile 8 and I was getting frustrated. Then I hit mile 9 and that first hill hit me right as I was getting pissed off with the woman in front of me.

You see, her husband and child were riding a tandem bicycle beside her. They rode beside me for a while and I couldn't stand the feeling of them being that close to me. Then I wanted to pass and they were in the way. I finally slowed down in mile 12 enough for her to get ahead of me and get that damn bike out of my way. But I'm ahead of myself.

At a little over mile 10 [to make up for that short hill you know] I kept saying holy shit! This is the farthest I've ever gone before and I feel great and there's only a 5k left \o/ My foot started feeling better, though my tendinitis flared in my right knee right about the same time. So I still finished the race in pain BUT I finished!

And it was awesome! And that mile 12 - 13? TOOK A YEAR. It would have been as bad as mile 1 except I was flying from the runner's high.

AWESOME race schwag:

Dry-fit shirt, STICKER OMG, the entire reason I did this!, and medal, and some socks.

Medal up close. This race was a fund raiser for childhood obesity prevention programs in this area. There was a 1 mile walk/fun run as well as a 5k. There were around 2000 participants

I kicked that 9.5 miles in the ass so hard I ran *10* miles

\o/\o/\o/

Time: 2:15:26

Which is ... slow very, very, very, slow. 13.5 minutes per mile. BUT! I only walked one short, STEEP, hill. I felt good the whole way even the first mile which I always hate. I kept my heart rate right around 170 which is exactly where I wanted it. I had one constant aggravation which was my heart rate monitor kept losing contact with my watch. I don't think I got enough water on it when I put it on, and I had to keep adjusting that. It was my first run with my CamelBak running belt. I had 24 ounces of glorious liquid with one scoop of P90X recovery drink. I'm about to finish a second serving of the exact same thing and some home made chicken noodle soup.

I am tired. Sore. I'd kill someone for a massage [although I don't actually want anyone I know to be in my space right now.] So should clarify, I'd kill for a massage from a pro that wouldn't talk to me at all. Good god almighty my feet hurt but it was AMAZING. You guys, I ran 10 miles! It was only a little over 4 years ago that I was a moderate to heavy smoker. The human body is so amazing, it can do *anything* you just have to train it first.

I know now for an absolute fact that I'm going to get through this half.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ION:

Remember back in season 2 when there was Tig/Gemma for about 15 seconds? This week brought that back to me, BIG TIME. Katy and Kim are just so visually *striking* when they're standing beside each other. guhguhguh
