Anyone who knows how I feel about the *show* knows I detest Dan. He's judgemental. He's got a chip on his shoulder. He's more boring and "perfect" than Brandon Walsh and I CAN'T STAND HIM. But then there's Blair/Dan fic and I can't help but draw hearts all around it.

Blair/Dan AU of Doom by mardia. Starts with Serena away at Boarding School, Blair and Dan get assigned to do a project together and eventually become friends. Dan starts talking about the used bookstore he went to, and this poem by Larry Levis he found that he can’t get out of his head. He somehow stops himself from quoting his favorite line.

He only gets off the phone with her when she says they’re pulling up outside her father’s house. After hearing the thanks, which seemed like it held a hint of a smile, the line goes dead. He realizes, later on, that in his desire for human interaction, he’d never even asked why she was calling him.

It starts like this Any day that ended in an orgy was a good day, in John's opinion. Oh, sure, the day had started out really fucking boring, with Jack's team of do-gooders nattering on and on and on about the Rift and the end of the world and all that.
