turnonmyheelsTrue Fax #1: I have only ever liked Jeremy with Anna. The actors have amazing chemistry -- it's the only time I've ever not felt like Jeremy should have been written as gay since he normally has all the chemistry with the guys -- I think they're visually appealing, and I just really love Anna and want her to be happy no matter what. So when she was all alone, and then there was Pearl I started sobbing like a four year-old who found out 5 years too soon that Santa, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth fairy are all lies.
True Fax #2: Sheila Bennett was killed 1.5 seasons too early. Jasmine Guy is beautiful and talented and she's lately had financial problems yet another reason why Sheila was killed off too soon. We left Pearl and Anna and turned around to Bonnie and Sheila and suddenly my sobbing turned up another 20 degrees and all I could think about was how much Bonnie needs someone in her life to help her out seeing as how other than Alaric and Caroline she's the only person in Mystic Falls with any sense.
True Fax#3: Damon is my favorite vampire on the show and the only time I love it more than when he's saving everyone including people he doesn't recognize as anything other than food, is when he's being tortured. I especially loved that he thought Ripper!Stefan was playing games with him!!!
True Fax#4: After Sheila's untimely death, Mason Lockwood's untimely death is the one I hated most. Why? Because the narrative moved too quickly for me to write an epic [read 6000 words, my writing epic is short, but my reading epic can be over 300k, just saying] Mason and Damon and Alaric threesome filled with bourbon, self-loathing, torture, and more sex than you shake a cave loaded with anti-vampire devices at. I had actually forgotten how hard Mason eye-fucks Damon until last night, and lo I miss it verily. What? It's Ren Faire season, didn't you know?
True Fax #5: If Mrs. Mayor Lockwood doesn't suddenly decide that Caroline is the A#1 best person in the world after saving her ass from the pissed of Tomb Vampire Ghosts, I will switch out all her vervain with wolfsbane and laugh when she gets her ass compelled by some random vampire that Damon eventually rips the heart out of.
True Fax #6: Is it really helping Stefan to be better when you're really just torturing him? Doesn't an addict have to make the decision to clean up on his own? It's no damn wonder Stefan was always falling off the wagon.
True Fax#7: Lex Luthor is on his way to Mystic Falls. He's going to Co-op the Lockwood Caves and MAKE THEM HIS OWN MWA HA HA HA HA

softly_me that just *nails* Stefan's characterization in a way that no one else has explored [to my knowledge] and Yes, THIS, and it fits so perfectly with last night. Stefan lives/dies as a reaction to the world around him. He lets other people make the rules and he follows them because he doesn't have a moral compass of his own because he lives/breathes/dies: rationalization

Date: 2011-10-28 03:07 pm (UTC)Otherwise, I completely agree with everything. I was glad to see Lexi again. I get why she was killed but man, I loved her interactions with Stefan and she had real chemistry with him that was fun to watch.
Jeremy should indeed be gay. Damon and Alaric need to start fucking, stat (btw, recs? of really any pairing or rating?) I find Stefanus to be quite boring, personally, but I can see the potential they're trying to tap. Elena attempting to be a grownup was interesting. And once again, what this show does so well, is the plot moved. In what's basically a nothing episode we have this new potential way of harming Klaus, and we've made progress in Stefanus
re-soulingturning his humanity back on. This remains something I really admire about this show. No one has things move as fucking fast as them -- even if sometimes, in the cases you mentioned, they move too fast.I really love this show. And I possibly need icons. Hm.
P.S. There are stories where someone makes Damon their utter bitch, right? Somewhere?

I get where you're coming from, but that doesn't excuse the fact that he cheated on her and then wanted to explain why and then kiss and make up. What I do think Bonnie's not being hard enough on is the fact that *she's* the reason it happened. Granted, I *get* why she wanted to save Jeremy. When he died, my hand flew to my mouth to hide my shout of, "OMG ELENA!!" Because that's all Jeremy's death meant to me was a loss for Elena. And Bonnie was thinking of Elena just as much as she was herself when she did it.
You do need icons. And if you want Damon as someone's bitch, or anything super slashy and dark, honey you're gonna have to write it. Most everyone is hearts and bunnies. Sorry

I actually doubt that will come up later, because Jeremy's too integral a character (also, I would be SO UPSET), but it's clearly why his continued existence is never questioned by Bonnie or Elena, who have to be worrying about that. And would that change now that Bonnie is pissed at him?
Hearts and flowers? Really? With THIS show? I... do not understand that. At all. And I wish like crazy I could write because there is richness untapped in this show worthy of being written.
*sigh* Isn't that how it always is? I find a show I love and fandom is just not where I want it to be. Or I find a fandom that has potential and it's either batshit crazy or I don't care enough about the show. Supernatural, I am looking at your lack of a real ensemble. Blah.

But there isn't [as far as I'm aware and frankly even though I run the newsletter I'm not reading that much fic] a corner that's devoted to slash and there certainly isn't a committed dark!fic writer around anywhere]. The fandom mostly appears to be young and commnitted to getting the pairing of their choice -- and this is where TVD fandom truly excels is the amount of pairings and the variety of pairings all to which I credit

I also really wish they'd let that personality trait [complete lack of control] surface in some other ways as well. I find it highly unlikely that Stefan is so out of control in only *one* facet of his life.

Date: 2011-10-28 04:11 pm (UTC)I mean if someone who was so amazing in Sarah Connor Chronicles can't do anything with the wooden dialogue he's given, it must be beyond saving! We struggled to make it through the whole episode. The show moves so damn slowly - like the polar opposite of TVD.
Revenge - yes! Total TV cotton candy, but so much fun! Things are definitely heating up now, too!

it does seem the fandom is youngish. doesn't make for really good fic writing, though there are some (which you have listed) that do a fairly good job in this fandom.
fwiw, i do read just about every fic posted in the newsletter (though mostly the PG-13 and above ratings/slashy/threesomes/incests. there haven't been nearly enough dark ones for my liking. i really detest the happy endings and the schmoopy slashfics where the one guy is really written as a needy girl with a penis.
i want a LOT more Ripper!Stefan. i do not want him "fixed" any time soon. if they fix him too soon, i and all the fans (at least i would hope they feel the same) would be totally cheated out of a great storyline. how long did they keep Angelus. ( hmmm i guess it was only half a season not counting him coming back on Angel for a few eppys. LOL! i liked Angelus' badassery sometimes more than Angel. YMMV)

Secret Circle. *sigh* the ONLY reason i am still watching is for Dekker and Harold. i keep hoping, maybe, they will get around to really amping it up ala tVD but who knows. it is odd but on tVD they don't make me think "teens" whereas on SC, they seem more like middle schoolers instead of teenagers. fwiw, i think that Dekker and the lead blond seem to have a lot of chemistry but they are never allowed to show it for more than like two seconds.
