For the first time in 10 entire days I do not feel like a Snot Zombie. My condition has been upgraded to Snot Jack o' Lantern. I'm going to count this as a victory.

Other victories include the Queen's mysterious ailment is only a UTI/bladder thing and we're treating it quite lovingly with liquid amoxicillin. She thinks she's a real person now that we're taking the same drugs.

ION: In celebration of everybody's favorite Gymnastics TV show being renewed \o/ I'm currently reading something like, 4? 5? 6? truly, truly, terrible MIOBI WIPs. DO NOT JUDGE ME. All of them ring completely untrue and I couldn't figure out *why*. So, I did what all judgmental fangirls do, I downloaded the source material and reviewed it. It's exactly as I remember, Payson is crushed over Max [who is currently on Revenge and therefore I don't think he'll be returning to The Rock], Sasha is tormented over Summer/Tannerness, and there is no proof that Payson won any medal other than team gold. ALL the fics in ALL the world have her winning the All Around gold in Rio and that irritates the snot [oh how I wish that were true] out of me. And don't get me started on the suddenly rich from sponsorships, well-dressed, mature as a 30 year old, Payson characterizations I've been reading. Has anyone actually watched the show and seen how they style that poor girl? Granted, that could be where it's coming from but still.

Sorry, just remembered I'm the only person on here who even knows what MIOBI is.

Let me digress to another sadly over-looked fandom: The Good Wife.

WHERE WAS LEGAL AID????? DO NOT TELL ME YOU DROPPED THAT STORYLINE ALREADY OMFG - STABZ!

Dear Star Trek Big Bang,

What happened to adventures in space? Seriously. If I wanted to read pirate/ninja/highschool/magic/hooker AU I'll turn to RPS.

No love,
B

I'll settle for star trek AUs just to have more kirk/spock. It's always so heavily kirk/mccoy and that just doesn't do it for me. I need SPOCK! Lots and lots of Spock. Of course, I also need time to actually start reading, so I'm trying to ignore what's being posted until later so that I can read all the k/s at once and it'll seem like tons of stories. I don't know if it's actually going to work.

Magz is a real girl! ;-) I'm glad the two of you are on the mend.

Kirk/McCoy is ok. Kirk/Spock is loads better. Spock/McCoy? That is where the magic *is*. I can't get my pairing. I can't get non-AUs. It hurts my soul, it really does.

Me too. She was feeling well enough last night to stay still for about a 15 minute brushing and then a nice long cuddle. She's not even staying mad at me when I give her her medicine. Thank Bastet.

I forget that you're spock/mccoy. That's really rough. My heart goes out to you.

Yay for cuddly kitty.

I'm hoping the next movie will inspire something. Don't get me wrong, I love Kirk/Spock -- but I prefer the antagonistic relationship type. It's why I'm so hard-core Snape/Harry, Draco/Harry, and once upon a time Spike/Xander. I love it when the characters realize there's something other than aggravation behind all the squabbling.

And let's not forget, Spock (the original Spock), left a piece of himself *inside* McCoy. If that spark hadn't been there we wouldn't have had more Spock

;-)

Oh, I totally remember Spock leaving part of himself inside McCoy. I think I can better get behind Spock/McCoy in TOS because of that. And with the reboot series if they give us any of that kind of connection I'm sure I'll be all over them. (I could totally go for some Spock!Prime/McCoy though, now that I think about it. Hmm.)

From just the first movie though, I'm all about K/S and I don't even get the interest in K/M. I just don't see them together at all. They will never be more than friends for me. And it's totally the antagonism between K/S in the movie that I love about them. Spock marooned Kirk on the ST version of Hoth! If that's not love, I don't know what is.

I know. Wasn't it romantic? ::giggles:: It was his bitchy vulcan way of saying I have emotions about you and I do not know what to do with them, so I'll abandon you in the middle of bumfuck space and hope an abominable snow man eats you.

I'm REALLY looking forward to the next movie. It simply can't get here soon enough.

I don't get the interest in K/M either. I mean, yeah they're pretty, and they're buddies, and I suppose if you tried you could get some subtext but other than Kirk being a general slut, I just can't see them together that way.

That hasn't stopped me from reading plenty of K/M though, there for about 3 months after the re-boot that was the only fic worth reading in any fandom.

I've read one K/M. Only because I trusted the author. And while it was quality, I still just couldn't get into it. You and I are destined to be interested in what people AREN'T writing.

I know you don't watch Boardwalk Empire, but there's a threesome I really want someone to write beautifully and I fear I will have to do it myself to ever actually see it written.

Unfortunately, that seems to be more and more true the longer I'm in fandom. I miss the days of Buffy -- everyone was into the same show, there were high-quality writers writing every pairing imaginable, and if you wanted a rare pair if you asked nicely enough *someone* would write it.

/whine

I'm afraid you're right. It's so sad.

I think Buffy fandom benefited from the fact that there was such an amazing ensemble cast and that the writers really did have everyone interacting with each other. It made it easier to have a foundation to write any pairing without it seeming completely OOC. I remember writing Oz and Ethan and feeling like it made sense because of the way the show worked in canon.

I wish we could get this in Vampire Diaries because I see the same type of potential there, but it just doesn't seem to have caught on. But a lot of writers came to Buffy late, so maybe there's still hope. We shall see.

I wish we could too. I had such *high* hopes for the fandom. Unfortunately, it hasn't really caught on. So many people won't watch it because they think it's a bad Buffy rip off and some that do, like that recapper that shall remain nameless watch it and still think it's a bad rip-off. I mean, I see the parallels because I'm NOT BLIND, but they're really and truly not that similar.

I still have a bit of hope. If it hasn't taken off by the end of this season I really don't think it will.
