These are all *opinions* keep in mind assholes/smell/opinions, yadda yadda

1) John McClane does not have sex with men. Period, end of discussion. I'm one of the biggest slashers on the block but I cannot and will not believe or fantasize about this. Now, I'm sure Bruce, Demi, and Ashton have some sort of wacky sexual hijinks going on, but NOT John McClane.

2) I find the following actors to be hideously unattractive: Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood, Dan Radcliffe, Eric Bana, Jared Padalecki, Josh Hartnett, Toby McGuire, David Tennant, David Hewlitt, Shia Lebeuf (sp?), Ben Affleck, Christian Bale

3) John Barrowman can't act. That doesn't mean that he doesn't embody Capt. Jack, because he does but he can't act his way out of a paper bag.

4) Dr. Who is terrible.

5) Jensen Ackles has played the same role on every show he's done. So has James Marsters. Think about that.

6) Joss Whedon is doomed to fail, much like Buffy is doomed to be alone. He's bought into his own press and thinks he's a god. The whole giving the audience what it needs instead of what it wants has destroyed any main stream career he could possibly have.

7) Speaking of Joss, Buffy should have ended with The Gift, Spike should have stayed off of Angel and Joyce Summers was a bad mother.

8) Supernatural sucks. Sam and Dean aren't fucking. Bobby is the lamest, laziest plot device in the history of lame/lazy plot devices. The scripts are terrible, the acting isn't strong enough to sell the scripts, the only thing that is half way decent most of the time is the soundtrack, but then they went and used Queensryche, so I can't even say that any more.

Don't get me started on the fans.

9) BSG *could* have been the best show in the history of tv. And then, everything went to hell. I'm still watching but with every episode I hate it more and more. IMO it went to hell immediately after D'Anna was boxed. Lee is a giant, whiny pussy, with the exception of the last episode. He really stepped up there.

10) I'm tired of wank. I'm tired of people perpetuating it for their own small-minded entertainment. I'm tired that it's about the same issues over and over. Ignorance and prejudice are part and parcel of the human condition. Am I advocating it? No. Do I think that it shouldn't be pointed out when people are assholes? No. But I *do* think it's more important speak out against sexism, racism, homophobia, and people's right to privacy in the real world instead of getting all up in arms on LJ.

Turn off the computer, go volunteer for PFLAG. Quit tracking IP addresses and volunteer at a shelter for battered women. Stop taking screen caps and write a letter to your Congress(wo)man.

Quit pointing out where other people are wrong, and do something that's actually productive. Like me, I'm going to go do what I actually get paid for now.


For the record: I love Torchwood and Jack. I fully intend to watch Dollhouse though I expect it to fail. I still watch SPN but only because JA is pretty. There's no way I'm not going to watch the end of BSG

Also, #5 - I can't really speak to Jensen as I have only seen him in Smallville and SPN, but damn about JM. I adored Spike, loved him and hated him. And shit, when he isn't doing that character I just don't care at all. Meh.

I just -- don't get the Barrowman love. I can see why captain jack is appealing, but barrowman himself? ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I think I'm with Sal and I like geeks more, which is why I like Tennent and Hewlitt on your not-attractive list. Otherwise? GOD YES.

There were moments in season 6 and 7 of Buffy that were *brilliant* Entropy is one of my favorite episodes, but -- the narrative was better off ending with The Gift. IMO. And you know what opinions are worth ;-)

2. I cannot explain my attraction to Shia LeBeouf. It bothers me. Not enough to stop finding him attractive, but hey.

#2: bloom, wood, and obviously jp are yes votes in every way. danrad and hewlett have elements that appeal, so if i find myself in fic where i'm required to picture it, i'm okay. i make the blank face of i-dunno when confronted with bana, shia and david tennant. i'm aware that some people find those guys attractive, but, uh. *hands?* and then there's toby mcguire, who's four years old, and ben affleck, who's seventeen in the worst possible way, and those two are flat no.

I can't agree with you about the unattractiveness of David Tennant or the overall terribleness of Who, but I agree with you about everything else. FWIW. Especially the Joss-related stuff. While I would like Dollhouse to be good, I ain't letting myself get optimistic.

I so desperately want Dollhouse to be good *and* succeed. But I really don't believe it will. JW and Fox are not a good pairing, there's too much animosity on both sides and to quite honest, I'm not certain ED has the chops to pull it off. I hope I eat my words there, I LOVE her.

Sometimes DT is quite cute, but over all I don't think so. Everyone has different buttons ...

1) Totally behind that one and in total agreement about the Bruce/Demi/Ashton probabilities.

2) You had me until JP. Sorry, I just have a thing for him. And Daniel Ratcliffe in certain moments (although I always feel like a pervy old woman for thinking so.) Josh Hartnett repulses me.

3) Nor can he run, pull a gun or pull off more than 2 facial expressions. Doesn't keep me from adoring Capt Jack. Mofo can sing, though. If only "Torchwood" were a musical...I said mofo.

6) I used to believe Joss' "I'd rather make a show that 100 people HAVE to watch than one a million people WANT to watch" (paraphrase) but I think after Serenity's critical but not blockbuster success he's gotten a little bitter. Will it keep me from watching "Dollhouse"? No.

7) There are a couple of moments in S6 I wouldn't give up for anything, but overall ending with Season 5? Yes.

8) the only thing that is half way decent most of the time is the soundtrack, but then they went and used Queensryche, so I can't even say that any more. Bwahahahahahaha! Dude. That whole episode was...well, I like nekkid JP so it works for me in a very basic level, but yeah. Queensryche combined with the "single, solitary tear"? I point and laugh. (But I mock with habitual affection.)

I don't know enough about most of the rest of those points to have an opinion, but I suspect they're correct :). Although I loved Tom Baker Dr. Who, that was partially for the cheesy up-side-down-trash can daleks, etc., not quality. I haven't seen more recent Drs.

I think for some of those guys it's the hair. I often hear myself saying OB and TM should wash their hair. And EW and DR could be twins IMO. Both of them are skeevy, creepy, looking little dudes that give me shudders. SHUDDERS.

The really wonderful thing about the people on my flist, is they can come into this post and say, I don't agree with this, or a lot of this, or even most of this, and THAT'S ENOUGH. No one is trying to change any one's mind. We can agree to disagree and celebrate the things we disagree with.

I kinda disagree about Jensen playing the same role. I think Alec was a departure from Eric Brady, who was very different from Eddie G who was different from Jason Teague who was different from Jake Gray who was different from Max Morgan who was different from Dean who was different from Priestly (from the clips and reviews I've sen and read re: Priestly). And I am going to stop my listing of Jensen's roles because it's just disturbing me that I listed that all off the cuff.

I totally agree with #6, and have discussed this at great lengths with people that have probably wanted me to SHUT UP. I have hopes for The Dollhouse, because I'd love to have Eliza back on my TV, but I saw the teaser thing and I don't know... could easily go either way.

I can't even explain my TM squick, it starts with his hair, he looks *greasy* all the time (so does OB) and he just ICKS me. And I can't help I think JP looks like a victim of bad plastic surgery. It doesn't even make sense to me. I like when his shirt is off though ;-)

I think that all of Jensen's characters (I've only seen Eric, Jason, Alec, and Dean) are essentially the same basic character. They've been infused with minor differences, but he's been seriously type cast at this point.

I desperately want dollhouse to succeed, but I don't think it will. Do you have a link for the teaser?

Yes! That's it! Both are greasy looking. I have a really hard time watching Spiderman (in fact I've only seen the first and the third, the first is where I realized my squick so I skipped the second, but had to watch the third for James Franco and Topher Grace.)

I definitely think he's being typecast genre-wise, but from the performances I've watched (all but Ten Inch Hero and My Bloody Valentine) I see vast distinctions w/ minor similarities, but y'know, mileage varies and all that. (although I will admit that for awhile he was rockin' the incest vibe WAY heavy with multiple characters). *shrug*

I confess that I don't know who half of these guys are but given my orientation (I hate that word but I can spell it) that is not suprising. I did have a convo recently though that Hollywood men these days just ain't what they used to be. I mean seriously, they either all are interchangeable or so everyguy that it's become boring.

Ha, #2! I feel the same way about everyone on that list. Granted, I am much pickier about men than the average fangirl (and, you know, less picky about women), but there's a certain set of features and physical quirks that turn on so much of fandom, and I just don't get it.

I've been muttering #6 approximately since Serenity. He's a brilliant world-builder and had an original voice 10-15 years ago, but now he's stuck in the rut of his own kinks.

There are people in Firefly fandom who are still pissed off that I didn't move on to BSG or Who like the rest of them, but you know, what you said. My current fandom is unscripted RPF and has better dialogue. And is 30X gayer than John Barrowman could ever hope to be.
