In awesome news my friend J from the Y that I go see all the awesome action movies with? She was just inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame as Self Defense Instructor of 2011. Her Jujitsu instructor nominated her. I'm so proud!

Things are really getting down to the wire on my house. I am a frazzled ball of nerves. But! I got my hair cut and a color yesterday so I am a cute frazzled ball of nerves.

I had to ask for help this week. You wouldn't know it from how often I beg for technical help on here, but when it comes to real life situations, I'd almost rather eat dirt than ask people for help. I always figure if people want to help they will.

Here's the sitch:

* Family is coming down the weekend of March 19th to install the floor. I don't feel bad about asking the family to help because a) they're family and b) mom is offering them time at her condo at the beach for helping

* I am going out of town *next* weekend for some much needed de-stressing and de-compressing

* Moe has yet to show up this week

* the walls have to be painted *before* the floor is installed. Currently in a 12 room house only 4 are painted. And I'm not talking about the trim, I'm talking about the WALLS, the ceilings however are completed through out the house.

I think you see where this is going. Between Saturday and Sunday this weekend and Tuesday and Wednesday evening next week ALL of the painting must be finished. So I sent out a call for help. I've had some people say they *would* help so I'm crossing my fingers and praying that it works out.

Send me some good vibes that it gets finished? Or you know, come on over and help? IF ONLY I lived near ANYONE on my flist I bet this would have been finished ages ago.

Who's watching Spartacus Gods of the Arena? I haven't watched it yet so don't spoil me. What I'm curious about is this: if I wanted to introduce someone to the Spartacus world should I start them out with Blood and Sand or Gods of the Arena?

Start them with Blood and Sand. GoA is book-ended by the events of the finale, so a) it will spoil them for the finale of B&S and b) it really, I think, has more meaning when you know who these characters are.

Ah, glad you told me about the book-ending B&S is too awesome to spoil. Thank you!

re: Spartacus. Seconding what Poisontaster said! (And then come over to my blog, B, to have them read the hilarious recaps. *g*)

Can you rent a sprayer for the painting? That is, if the majority of the rooms will be the same color. SO much faster, like you could get all 8 rooms done in a weekend, easy.

I've been reading the recaps there of the shows I watch -- it's a great site, I'm enjoying it a lot.

It takes more time to hang plastic and tape off for spraying (not to mention cleaning the different colors out of the sprayer) than it will to roll. Moe sprayed all the ceilings and a portion of the priming. I STILL need to prime the two baths, my room, and part of the office. And between the upper and lower kitchen cabinets.

IS A BALL OF STRESS

Do you have to prime? I know you work where you can get the good stuff, but I typically use a thicker paint (like Behr) so I can get by with one or two coats and not have to prime.

I LOVE painting, and if you were anywhere close, I'd be over in a jiffy. I'm the taping off master.

There will be priming, because I skim coated the mo-fo out of those walls ALL BY MYSELF. Because I am awesome like that ;-)

All the taping is done for the wall painting. Naturally, once the walls cure the walls will be taped for the trim painting. Why, Stoney, does everything take so MUCH time? I do not understand.

I forgot you did all the the floating of new dry wall, yes, some priming will be necessary. LOOK AT YOU WITH YOUR FANCINESS.

I hope the fanciness continues to be fancy when all is said and done.

Good luck with the house projects! I can't wait to see the transformation when you're finished.

I haven't seen "Gods of the Arena," either: It's my Spring Break project. But my fellow Spartacus fan in the office is bursting with eagerness to discuss with with me when I'm done. He's a gay history professor, so that bodes well!

Thank you! I seriously can't wait to get it all done and be in. I'm sure it'll take ages situating things *just* so but paint on the walls will provide a progress report at least.

That does bode well! I've been postponing watching until I have some free time.

Oy, house crunching! But it's true, if we lived nearby we'd roller-derbying your walls like mad. It's totally ok to ask for help -- you're a helpful person, your mom is helping to provide incentives, I'm sure you'll feed people. THIS is the stuff that friends and family are for! Think of it as community-building :).

I say all of that because, like you, I find it hard to ask, but I sure do love chipping in when asked by someone else. May it all go swiftly and well! Your new home is Almost There! \o/ \o/ \o/

I like that, community building. Thank you for the well wishes ::hughugs::

If I run out of time I can always pay some guys from my company to finish up. I'm just working REALLY hard to avoid that whole *Pay* thing

Yeah, scrimping is good, because there are so many other costs!

Dude, I wish I *could* come over and help, I actually don't mind painting. Hope it all gets done AND you don't have a mental breakdown in the process. Which of course I already know you won't, because you are a strong and intrepid woman.

*adores*

I'm glad you think so, 'cause right now I've got nothing but nerves.

Man, if I lived anywhere near you, I'd be over there every day. I used to help my ex-stepmom paint at her apartment complex (she was a manager).

And I haven't watched Gods of the Arena yet, but I'd definitely start them with Blood & Sand. From what I understand of GoA, there are things you won't get unless you've seen B&S first.

You would be *very* welcome. Very welcome indeed. I'm holding off watcing GoA until my life calms down a bit. There should be some payoff, yes?

I love you so much, I would come and help you paint even though a. I'm terrible at it and b. I am a lazy mo-fo.
