omg. with the bad run and then the illness, I will now be officially *under-trained* for the Half-Marathon 12/3

/o\

is panicking

and my back injury is tweaking at me. I've spent so much time on the couch getting over the crud my body is rebelling against me.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ION:

Remember back in season 2 when there was Tig/Gemma for about 15 seconds? This week brought that back to me, BIG TIME. Katy and Kim are just so visually *striking* when they're standing beside each other. guhguhguh

If your back can get back to something like happiness, you're gonna be fine! The training programs I looked at had you doing like, one 8 or 10 miler a few weeks before the half, then everything else was smaller. If you can do 8 not on race day, you can do a half as soon as you're feeling a little better and have a few more runs back behind you. You can SO do this! *\o/*

I gotta get me a 5k. I'm definitely running a little faster for having been out just a few times in the last few weeks, and I want the personal training to be for Something. Luckily, there are still tons of those around :D.

I'm doing my PT and it's working, I guess this is going to be one of those life-long things, but at least I know how to treat it now?

Thanks for the encouragement. I needed it.

There are freaking 5Ks in the middle of the day, in the middle of the week around here. Who knew? I can't wait until you run 1!!!

Yeah, the beauty of it is that though it Feels like you've been laid low by this illness for months, you've only been away from the running and gym for less than two weeks, right? So the first few will be a little rough, but you can get back into the swing pretty quickly. And I bet you can modify the training schedule to do the half well.

Yeah, it feels a little like a cop out? But looking at your photos from the tri and hearing you talk about it reminded me of all the Good things about an organized event like that :D. I'm sure I can find one with zombies and/or turkey if I really wanted in the next few weeks :D.

I've actually taught all my classes except for 2 so I haven't been completely couched. It's going to be ok. Like Sal said, if I have to walk some the world is not going to stop spinning. I need to remember that and start getting excited! Between now and then I'm running a 5K race through my Y

I bet you could too, probably more than one if you really wanted ;-)

[identity profile] ldthomps.livejournal.com 2011-10-27 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh :D. I'm sure I could find more than one, but do I want to pay for more than one? Oh, wait, I just realized that I should totally do more than one and see if I can increase my speed. Oooooh.

*shakes fist at your sneaky inspirational ways* :D

I think you'll be fine for your half given how much of your distance you had been actually running. Go easy getting back in to it. And be sure to be hydrated! You can always walk part of the actual race if you need to -- there's no shame in that, babe.

I'm easing back in with a 5 mile Sunday morning. Then the 9.5 and so on. I'm unsure if I should run the 11 the week right before the half or do a short run that week -- I'd hate not to get the 11 in, you know?

[identity profile] moosesal.livejournal.com 2011-10-27 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I would go with a short run that week because you'll want the recovery. Maybe you can bump the 9.5 to 10 if you feel up to it? If you can do 10, you can do 12 no problem.

That "no problem" had me double taking. Oh ye of amazing amounts of faith.

[identity profile] moosesal.livejournal.com 2011-10-27 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I stand by my "no problem". :)

You said the magic words earlier: I can walk if I need to, and that makes it doable.

It's not like I have a time goal, I just have a finish goal which takes a ton of pressure off.

YES!! Especially with the 'Take me home Tiggy.' and the looks they're constantly sharing. I sorta want Tig to kill Clay while Clay is attacking Gemma or something at the end of the season...is that wrong?

Also, I hope your back starts to feel better soon. I'm sure the half-marathon will go fine...just have faith in yourself.

*hugs*

When she said that I was all GEMMA LOVES YOU BABY!!!

I'm at the apex [for now] of my Clay hate and what you said appeals to me on a billion different levels. Hopefully Piney will live through the attack, rat Clay out to the Club and then Tig will do precisely what you just said.

I don't think it's wrong at all. I think it's brilliant.

Thank you so much for the encouragement for the half. ::Hugs::
