You guys. The Vampire Diaries is like ... the best paced, never predictable, most engaging, show with Strong Women Characters, hot-assery left, right, and everywhere that just makes me go

AAAAAA

All the damn time. Two seasons of stuff happened tonight and NONE of it was

1) rushed
2) forced
3) out of left field
4) predictable

Perhaps predictable if you've read the books [I haven't]

In conclusion: this is the best show you're not watching

Sounds wonderful; however I don't have TV. Therefore I miss out on such things. But truly I really don't miss it.

I love this show so much. I've managed to convert people into watchers through just the power of TwitSpamming about it.

And even if you've read the books, the show's enough of a different creature that I can't really predict where they're going to go. They're pulling in characters in really interesting ways that pay homage to their print roots while being completely different.

I read the first gossip girl book after season 1 and it was ... disappointing to say the least. I've been hesitant to pick up tVD novels due to that.

I love the books. However, I first read them as an impressionable teen with relatively bad taste (Biggest Mercedes Lackey fan evah) and it definitely lends some rose tint to them. And, like I said, they're a very different creature. I actually used to have a Bonnie/Damon fic set after the original four books that I liked better than the books. (Said fic had the serial numbers filed off and is now a proper book so I can't link to it.)
