Fannishly speaking
Flist aside, I feel very disconnected from fandom since the name change. Driving the
crack_van this month has helped me feel a bit closer, but I still feel distanced. I think part of that is lack of writing fic and episode reactions. Some days I feel like so few of us watch the same shows that it's kind of silly to type up my squee, and others I'm just too lazy to do it *g*
I signed up for
mini_nanowrimo, I did it last year and it helped me get some stuff off my plate and through Yuletide without any major freak out. I'm hoping it'll do the same this year.
* the Tyra/Lyla fic that's a sequel/spin off to the Jason/Tim/Lyla/Tyra sex fest I wrote a few years ago
* the Matt Saracen gang-bang S and I have been talking about fortwo THREE years now
* the Gossip Girl/FNL crossover I posted a part to months and months ago
* the Gossip Girl Chuck/Nate/Blair fic I posted a part to before I changed my freaking name
* the Gossip Girl/Cruel Intentions crossover that only S and
allegraconbrio [dude! I still have to look up how to spell your name!] know about
Um. I have these two shows that I love above all others? They're called Friday Night Lights and Gossip Girl, just in case you didn't already know that. Ask me about them. PLEASE.
True Blood: D+. I have no idea at all why I watch this show. When pressed about it I can say the following: the theme song is awesome, that one vampire is hot, Lafayette is pretty cool, and Sookie's brother is pretty so long as his mouth is shut. Don't get me started on the pecan pie. Or Sookie "masturbating".
Dexter: B+ BUT!! I'm 3 episodes behind so it may be an A and I don't know it.
Gossip Girl: B+ It's suffering from the sophomore slump, not as badly as FNL did last season, but it's there. There are a lot of things I'm really loving [Chuck! Eric! Nate!] and some I'm disgruntled with [needy out of control Blair! Dan! Serena!] but overall it's my number one TV priority of the early-week.
Chuck: B Exactly what one expects it to be. Fun, silly, funny.
The Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles: A+. This show leaves me breathless each and every week. There's so much there. It's a Sci-fi fan geek paradise. Seriously. Everything is class-act. EVERYTHING. I would go so far as to say it's the *best* sci-fi out right now.
Fringe: B I don't love it. I don't hate it. JJ is cute and I like Walter. And the cow.
Bones: C I really hate the direction this show has been heading for the past two seasons. The funny shtick should not be the point of episodes I'm not saying it can't be funny, just not at the expense of the characters. Yes, it's funny that Booth is in the bathtub [ALONE] with a beer-hat on. It's not funny when he's screaming and stamping his feet like a petulant child in England. The show was at it's best when it remembered that Seeley is not proud of his past and has a difficult time reconciling it with his faith. I'm still pissed off about Zach, though I do like the Murphy Brown-esque intern of the week. I wish they were more science-y in the Jeffersonian instead of soap operaish and Hodgins and Angela's break up was the lamest story telling device I've ever seen.
I apparently have very strong feelings about this show. And most of them aren't positive.
Friday Night Lights: A+ It's back to the glory it had in season 1. I've cried every single episode this season and while I'm frustrated with a couple of dangling storylines, I'm in love all over again. ::draws hearts::
Smallville C+ I wish the Jimmy/Chloe storyline would die. I wish Lex was there. I wish Ollie was shirtless more often. Tom Welling is prettier than ever and the show is as good as it could be considering the handicaps it started the season with. I hope they have sense enough not to try for an 8th season.
Supernatural B I've liked SPN more this season than I did all last year and half the year before combined. It's still more un-even than it should be and I don't like all the fan servicing Kripke and company does. I don't like the constant bickering and slamming and nastiness the fans are constantly doing. If I wander of my flist on Fridays I inevitably stumble across some new thing that fangirls are beating each other over the head with. Can't you all just enjoy it without tearing each other down?
Anyway, I expect it to start sucking rotten eggs again any second.
::ducks rotten eggs::
Dirty Sexy Money B Off to an excellent start!!! It's such a fun, fun show.
Stargate Atlantis: C Seriously. If this is the best they can come up with in season five, maybe it *is* time they went on to movies. And the producers need to get over Ronon's dreads, that wig looks like shit. The un-even development of the female characters drives me crazy. The last episode was more like a catch-up and a complete waste of time.
Secret Diary of a Call Girl B+ I'm a few episodes behind, but it's just as charming and fun as it was last season. Seeing Billie get a bit more pregnant in each episode is hilarious if a bit weird.
I tried My Own Worst Enemy and fell asleep. I got rid of 90210 3 episodes in.
Shows I'm *really* looking forward to:
Rescue Me
Battlestar Galactica
Torchwood
Show I used to look forward to and will most likely be unable to tear my eyes away from regardless how bad it sucks:
Nip/Tuck
Show I'm going to give a chance even though the re-casting and re-writing of a subplot has pissed me off:
Being Human
I've never had this many shows and it's beginning to overwhelm me. Still, I can't help wondering what shows I'm missing! I'm recording Mad Men, I've got all the eps ready to go I just haven't found time to watch them. I've watched 2 Generation Kill episodes it's good [it has that one vampire!] but it's not my cup of tea right now, I blame the election and the economy.
