Pick one

It's for the living room to get rid of the monstrosity that's there. photo

I like the curved blades and the nickel detail on the blades in the first one

I like the square light and only four blades on the bottom one.

THEY COST THE SAME. Although shipping is free on the bottom one and not the top

It also depends on what the room is? The one I like has a more modern, cleaner lines feel. The room needs to match that to an extent. The first has a more country/industrial meld to it, which may fit better. I love the curved blades. I just like the box light better :)

Oh, that helps - the first one, then. Mostly because I think the second will also be too big in the room. But there's a softness in the room so you don't need the hard lines of the boxier one.

Ooh, I like your reasoning! The second *is* 4 inches bigger than the first one

Ack, it wouldn't let me change my answer, and I just clicked on the one I didn't intend to - oh wait, I could still maybe fix it. But anyway, to put it in words, they're both great, but I like the top one a little better - I feel like the bottom one might not age quite as well, stylewise. And the box light looks like it might hang down lower, which may or may not be an issue for you (my dad is tall and ceilings low, so it'd be an issue for me).

UHM. Either one is great, I dunno why I felt like I had to give you a lengthy opinion :D.

I love reasons! And I think you're right, the bottom one may not age as well, but WOW I've never seen one like it before

though, there may be a reason for that!

I love the bottom one. The rectangular elements in the fan will really look great with the rectangular architectural details in the room (the room opening, the door panels, the two rectangular windows); I think you will find it a more harmonious look. :D

Spencer, who gave me the gift card that will buy the fan will make the ultimate decision. Right now he's saying the bottom one. I like the uniqueness of that one a *lot*

I like the first one. I usually like really modern, clean lines but the second one does not look like it will blend well with your living room. Also, I don't know that it will stay stylish for long. The first one looks like it will be able to flow even if you revamp your style in a few years.

hmmm, thank you! Now that I've narrowed it from ALL the ceiling fans I think I'm going to let Spencer have the final say -- he did buy the gift card that will purchase the fan after all
