JFC VAMPIRE DIARIES FANDOM.

GET YOUR VAMPIRE PHYSIOLOGY STRAIGHT.

IN TVD UNIVERSE VAMPIRES HAVE A HEART BEAT! AND BODY TEMPERATURE!

IN FACT ACCORDING TO DAMON: AS LONG AS I EAT A HEALTHY DIET MY BODY FUNCTIONS JUST LIKE YOURS. Season 1

ACCORDING TO CAROLINE: EATING REAL FOOD HELPS WITH THE CRAVINGS. Season 2

ACCORDING TO STEFAN: ALCOHOL AND CAFFEINE KEEP THE CRAVINGS LOW AS WELL. Season 1

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO MAKE THIS RANT?

Perhaps I should uncapslock it and post it to a community?

I seriously can't read fics where the physiology is incorrect, that's like expecting Spock to bleed red, yo. It ain't gonna happen.

In your fandom, what do fic writers do to canon that makes you insane?

I'm not familiar with TVD so I did not know that their vampires were different (thanks, TV Tropes -_-). Most of my own fic is unapologetically AU/AR so I probably drive the canon-faithful up a wall myself, but there are still certain elements of canon to which I stay faithful. I'm only active in one vampire-themed fandom but it would never even occur to me to go against the vampire physiology for that canon.

AU/AR is different though, it allows you to play with how things work and diverge from canon.

There are a lot of differences with the vampires in tVD. The bodily functions are one and the other that is most interesting to me is that they can't sense other vampires. People get that wrong all the time too and it makes me want to tear out my hair.

Much like when someone in SoA gives certain characters the back piece when they clearly don't have it. Points to Juice
