(no subject)

So I've been watching DWTS off and on for probably 5 seasons -- depending on who the stars are. Three of which Derek has won. [Derek is my DWTS boyfriend btw] I often wonder how they match Stars with Dancers and who Derek's been fucking to get all the best female contestants.

Poor Maks. He always comes so close but as far as I know he's never won. Who *isn't* he fucking?

And then, I watch Cheryl Burke, especially this season, and I wonder? Does she hate her job? Is there any reason why her extensions are half-assed? Why her footwork is a little sloppy? Why her choreography isn't as awesome as the other Dancers? I thought maybe I was being unfair to Cheryl for some reason I'm not aware of, but I watched them last week when it was all pros [to make sure it wasn't dancing with the star that made her sloppy] and Cheryl looked like an amateur compared to the other pros. I watched it repeatedly. She had no flare in her turns, her extensions were *still* half-assed and she just didn't "sell it" it any way.

Has she always been like this? Does she just hate Rob Kardashian? But last season, I noticed it too. The last time I saw her dance *well* was with Ochocinco.

Is she burnt out? Am I an over-critical cunt?

[well, yes, I am, nearly always but am I now?]

Does Len really hate Bruno as much as it appears?

Inquiring minds want to know

She really brought it in the freestyle. She made Rob look *great* and even better, she truly performed and looked like she was present and enjoying herself. YAY

I'm sort of secretly pulling for Rob. He was terrible in week 1 and now he's pretty damn good. But he's a Kardashian so I'm torn. I wanted Hope to win forever but she quit improving along the way. I can't BELIEVE she took her Olympics cortisone shot on this ridiculous show.

Payson Keeler does not approve.

oh fuck me. i may have to write that fic

And then at the end, she was completely absent again. I smell burn-out. Even still her finale number was IMO the best choreographed of the night. Derek often focuses too much on what he wants to choreograph instead of how best to showcase his star.

I think Karina puts too much focus on herself and not enough on JR.

I have never been impressed by Cheryl and I couldn't quite put my finger on why. I think your analysis of her is fair. Her dances don't move me artistically or technically.

Len just said Cheryl had won the mirror ball a couple of times. I wonder how early on it was? She just has that complete "I could less about this and I don't care who knows it" air about her and it's very off-putting. Her part of the waltz tonight was flat and not any more technically skilled than Rob's.

Surely there are at least a thousand dancers equally as skilled who would kill for her job.

She won several, in the first few seasons -- including being robbed of the very first one. Cheryl is very good at designing dances that showcase her partner's abilities and assets. Probably the best of all of them.

But yeah, the last few years she clearly is going through the motions. But man, the first time I saw her with Nick Lachey? She was amazing.

That convinces me even more that it's burn-out. She does choreograph for her Star very well, I've noticed that on more than one occasion -- especially with Rob -- but her performances have been lacking pizzazz of her own.

I know at least 3 of the Dancers have left for a season or more, maybe it's time Cheryl took a break from this and had some *fun* somewhere.

She tried opening up a studio a few years back. I think her goal was to transition from one to the other, but either the studio didn't do well or they enticed her back with a bigger payday. Or something else. No clue.

I think her real skills are in choreography, not necessarily dancing. Not that she's bad, by a long shot, but right now one is clearly better than the other. I know she's instrumental in the group dances, too. Mark may think he's hot shit but mostly he's just edgy. It gets old. She's good.

Probably very burned out, though, yes.
