Week 2, day 10.

Through the end of February I am teaching 3 classes a week. Some weeks I'm teaching 4 and others 5 but at least 3 every single week. This means, I am doing the P90x *Doubles* [more or less]

From the official website

Doubles is for those who want extra cardio on top of the standard Classic Approach, either for performance of for weight loss. Those attempting Doubles should be completely injury free and have plenty of energy to add another workout to the schedule three or four days per week.

The P90X workouts are approximately 1hr (1 DVD) each day, 6 days a week, with the 7th day being a day or rest or optionally X Stretch. Please see the breakdown below. Feel free to preview the video descriptions of each workout on the P90X product page here:

P90X DOUBLES PHASE 1:

This phase is identical to Phase 1 of P90X Classic. Your focus should be on mastering each exercise. Concentrate less on the amount of weight but instead try to reach your rep goals, while maintain good form!

P90X DOUBLES PHASE 2:

This is where you turn it up! Add Cardio X 3 times per week. It’s recommended to do this workout in the morning on an empty stomach. Then do your regular P90X workout later when you’ve got more blood glycogen for energy.

P90X DOUBLES PHASE 3:

Now you’re going to up P90X cardio to 4 times per week. With the this much additional cardio, it’s important that you eat very well to ensure that you have the proper energy to push yourself each day.

Haha! I'm already in Phase 2 of doubles. ::wipes sweat::

Seriously, I had to teach the late and short spin class yesterday so I went ahead and took the step class before it, what the hell else was I gonna do for an hour? It was absolutely the laziest step class I've ever done. I didn't hop. I didn't twirl. I didn't add in any extra steps or leaps to get my heart rate up. In fact I kept the old pulse under 140 [closer to 130] the entire time. Usually I'm flying around 165 - 170.

Then, I taught spin from the floor, talk about lazy ;-) That was actually more due to my ipod/itunes situation and the fact that the remote control for the stereo system doesn't work and I would have had to be on and off constantly to get to the right songs.

So. P90x doubles. I'm picturing young me teens and twenties full of youth, wrinkle and gray hair free trying to do any of this and I laugh my ass off.

Today was shoulders and arms. I found my 8 pound weights used them on all the exercises and upped my reps on all of them too \o/

The ab-ripper is still kicking my ass but I shall one day defeat it too.

I have decided to start taking iron supplements again until this is over with.
