I don't think anyone on my flist posts about Dexter -- so I was very surprised with how many people posted yesterday and how many of those people all echoed your sentiments about Rita. I feel like the only person around who will genuinely miss her. My very favorite Rita moment ever was the look of utterly sublime happiness on her face when she put the padlock on Dexter's little house in the backyard. She truthfully didn't care what he was doing out there -- she just wanted him there and not lying and off in his old apartment. It was really twisted.
All of her personal work at trying to grow and be a better person and how she tried to drag Dexter with her was genuinely amusing to me. She was so self-deluded and yet so strong at the same time. Not to mention, she's easy on the eyes *g*
I agree that the sloppiness was intended and that they had to get out of the happy suburban corner they'd written Dexter into, but I'd rather have seen Rita realize the futility of trying to make Dexter into something and grow into something else herself.
