It's terrible that my thoughts went like this: 1) oh! the kids! Those poor kids! Dexter can't raise them by himself! 2) Oh! Dexter! Who's going to be damaged enough for you to marry now? 3) Oh. Rita. Huh. Guess you never have to find out what your husband truly is.
I mean I'm sad-ish that there won't be that marriage dynamic anymore, but, I'm not all torn up about it.
I think that the sloppiness was intended--the difficulties of juggling a wife, 3 kids AND serial killing. Having to be home at night and be a real dad and husband rather than a boyfriend/psuedo-father was bound to throw a wrench in things.
